Several years ago while reading the back of an album cover, Wendell Lowe discovered a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr. that read, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”. Taking responsibility for the direction of his life and inspiration from this, Wendell decided to pursue his lifelong goal of homeownership.
Wendell was accepted into the Habitat program in 2008 where he completed the required classes and put in his 350 hours of “sweat equity” all while enrolled as an adult college student. With construction completed in the fall of 2008, Wendell purchased his new home. “We are extremely proud of Wendell and his incredible accomplishments. His energy and drive are phenomenal and we wish him the very best success”. Also a serious musician, Wendell is grateful to have an entire room in his new home devoted to his practice so that he may give his gift of music to others. Upon graduation, Wendell plans to pursue a master’s degree and become a counselor. |
